FAR overhaul: how to follow the changes relevant to your company

Follow the overhauled FAR parts, agency deviations, and proposed rules separately when reviewing a federal sales opportunity.

What this means for your next step

Begin with the FAR parts and agency deviations linked by Acquisition.gov, then compare them with the clauses and instructions in the solicitation you are pursuing. The overhaul includes regulatory material and separate buying guidance; their roles differ.

For a commercial product sale, identify the purchasing pathway and the solicitation's commercial terms. For a subcontract, identify the clauses the prime proposes to flow down. Record the actual document and version behind each question you send to the contracting team.

A proposed rule is an opportunity to review and comment. Its publication does not by itself establish that its proposed requirements are already in force. The related records below retain their document types and comment deadlines so you can distinguish those steps.
